Alright, creators, here is the scoop. You’re here because you know deep down there’s more inside of you waiting to come out. You've got ideas, visions, and dreams, but maybe you’re struggling to get things done or stay consistent. In a post on my Instagram account, I shared candidly that my struggle with productivity rested on procrastination, a deadly vice that assassinates dreams. I realized that my procrastination resulted in my fear of success.
The truth is, creativity doesn’t just flow—it needs discipline, structure, and the right mindset and many other things that's tailored to you and your destiny.
So, if you’re ready to take control of your creative journey and turn that potential into reality, let’s dive into these productivity hacks designed to elevate your game.
1. Embrace the Power of Routine
Let’s be honest—freestyling might work for some things, but if you want to build something solid, you need structure. The type of structure that has the capacity to expand so that you don't limit your creativity. This type of structure is about creating space for your creativity to thrive. As an ocean that meets the beach or shore, so should your imagination be vast within a particular boundary to work within. The benefits of this routine frees your mind to focus on what matters most—your craft within the safety of discipline, vision, and capacity.
• Set specific work hours: When you sit down to work on your craft, be present and intentional. Make that time sacred and honor it. Time is as valuable as currency and it's something that you cannot get back. By creating specific working hours, you are allowing yourself a moment in time to build, create, ideate, and shine. Also note that this doesn't mean you need to have a 9-5, but place your priorities on a calendar that blocks that time out for just that.
True story: it wasn't until I chose to work a 9-5 as a content strategist for a university that I saw the value in time management. I learned project management tools that allowed me to manage my team and workload, which was beautiful.
Try tools like: Asana.com , Monday.com, Basecamp.com (My Favorite), and Notion.com (also my favorite)

• Create a dedicated workspace: A space that inspires you is a space that will fuel your creativity. In my home, I have three. I transformed my sunroom into my office for meetings and ideation. I sketch there and have a little area where my art hangs on the wall with a cute gold cart that holds my Cricut machine and heat press, just in case I want to make something. It's clean, near a ton of natural sunlight, and overlooks the small "lake" outside my window. I also have a music studio in the loft for music production and creativity.

When I'm stressed, I'll chime in on my midi and record something in Logic Pro X to get my juices flowing. I find that it'll distract me while working the right side of my brain giving me joy and happiness along the way. I could also go up there and record a podcast or poem or record presentations like Creative Fire and Revelation is a Revolution. My last workspace is in my bedroom. There's a cozy corner where I have my vision board, motivational art decor, a desk near the window for natural sunlight, a diffuser for great-smelling essential oils, a comfy chair, and books. It's not used as often as the other two, but it's there when I need a space for relaxation.

• Develop pre-work rituals: Whether it’s a cup of coffee, a quick walk, or reading something motivational, get in the right headspace. For me, I walk 5 miles at least three times a week to clear my head and give my body the gift of working out. I also can strategize, take notes, and breathe fresh air, while getting my 10k steps in.
2. Use the Pomodoro Technique
We don’t have time to waste. The Pomodoro Technique is about working smarter, not harder. Stay focused, stay sharp, and avoid burning out. And to be completely honest, I asked AI to share some tips and learned this technique recently. I love the accountability and feel it's backed by behavioral psychology.
Examples of the Pomodor Techniques are:
1. Work for 25 minutes. Lock in, no distractions.
2. Take a 5-minute break. Get up, stretch, and reset.
3. Repeat this cycle four times.
4. Take a longer break (15-30 minutes) to refresh and prepare for the next round.
3. Mind Mapping for Idea Generation
When it comes to idea generation, mind mapping is a no-brainer. It’s simple, visual, and powerful. You need a system to pull out all those ideas floating in your head and make sense of them. I'm a stationary girl since the days of Lisa Frank and a collector of beautiful journals and notebooks. So, mind mapping is my favorite tool for getting things on paper. My favorite is my IDEAS notebook, which I found in Walmart. I sketch systems, formulas, thoughts, and logos, and it's there where I found my unique system from Tag It Brand It. It's like my personal mind diary that blooms into reality somehow. If not my IDEAS notebook, I'm using Procreate or Adobe Fresco to jot down my mind on my Ipad Pro. There is no real architect to it but I did find in my research that it is best to:
• Start with a central concept: What’s your main idea? Focus on that.
• Branch out with related ideas: Let your mind explore every angle.
• Use visuals: Add colors, images, whatever it takes to stimulate those creative thoughts.

You could book a Brand Therapy session, where your can mind dump and gain new clarity and direction for your brand.
4. Implement the Two-Minute Rule
Don’t let small tasks pile up and steal your focus. If it takes less than two minutes, handle it right away. Those little wins keep you moving and create momentum. I'm sure many are against that, but for me, it works. Hard things have a spot on my calendar and block out time, but the two-minute stuff is handled early in the morning for me. I'd rather get it done than to make something small hold weight in my mind.
5. Practice Mindfulness and Meditation
Focus is your superpower. And sometimes, you’ve got to clear the mental clutter to make room for real creativity. Mindfulness isn’t some soft, fluffy practice—it’s about sharpening your ability to lock in and create at your best.
• Try guided meditation apps: Try apps like Headspace or the Bible App for inspiration and focus.
• Practice deep breathing and gratitude: It’s simple but powerful. Get centered, grounded, rooted, whatever word works best for you and your practice.
• Take mindfulness breaks: Step away when you need to reset, and come back even stronger.
My remedy of practice is done through music. I get lost in it. I write, I'll sing, or play my many instruments to let go and let God. Faith is the biggest practice for me and my belief is something that keeps me sharp, innovative, and curious about what's next. I also feel as creatives, we house a supernatural gifting that connects us to the spritual in a way. that a non-creative may not explore. It's treasure and sacred, and the world sees in color because of it. So, don't skip tapping in to the unseen, so that you can feel with new vision.
6. Utilize Technology Wisely
Tech is a tool—use it that way. It can be your best friend or worst enemy, so make sure it works for you, not against you. Maximize productivity and minimize distractions, especially in the days of AI.
• Use project management software: Keep track of your tasks and ideas in one place.
• Try apps like Forest or Freedom: Limit distractions and stay focused.
• Explore AI-powered tools: Let AI handle routine tasks so you can stay in your creative flow.
For those in love with ChatGPT and Open AI tools, make sure you keep the human touch to every output. Now that we have this intelligence on our side, there is a rapid pace of data and information, but make no mistake—it cannot replace the feeling of authenticity and warmth of humans. So use it as a tool, not a replacement.
7. Embrace Imperfection
Stop waiting for perfect. Get it done. Perfection is a creativity assassin, just like procrastination, as I mentioned earlier. Remember, done is better than perfect. Once you put something out into the world, you can always refine it. But if you’re waiting to make it flawless, you might never get it done. Perfectionism is deeply rooted to control and fear. So, get it out of you and let it grow. The audience will help you refine and define what it should be, but if you never give it a chance, the world will never know.
The greatest example is the Creative Way Podcast. I'm really going with the flow here. I had a plan for it, but it's becoming its own thing. I thought I'd have it go in one direction, but that was in the making for nearly six months. One day, I finally said, "Let me do something with it," and recorded my first episode, vowing to release a new episode every Monday morning. That was two episodes ago, with my next expose scheduled to be released on Monday at 12 am sharp.
This creative journey isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s for those willing to show up, push through, and keep the fire burning. If that’s you, it’s time to take these tools and make them work for you.
